About

Teta Alim is a writer and editor based in Washington, D.C.

She arrived in the U.S. from Jakarta, Indonesia, as a baby, and grew up in upstate New York. She has called D.C. her home since 2012.

When she’s not focused on local news, Teta writes about music and runs an online zine about connecting to Indonesian heritage in diaspora.

In August 2019, Teta was on The Kojo Nnamdi Show to talk about local DIY culture and D.C.’s music scene. Listen to the segment here.

Teta started Buah zine in 2018 as a way to create space for people of Indonesian heritage to examine, unpack, critique and celebrate their heritage in diaspora. You can learn more about Buah zine in the interview she did for VICE Indonesia (English version and Bahasa Indonesia version).
