Concert Review: The Maccabees Take My Heart

On February 17th, The Maccabees played an amazing set at The Black Cat in Washington, DC. They played a lot of songs from their latest album, Given to the Wild, released just last year and includes “Ayla” and “Child”. And of course, they played crowd favorite, “Toothpaste Kisses” from their 2007 debut album, Colour It In. Seeing a band live that actually sounds good live is a wonderful, affirming feeling. Afterwards, many of the band members stuck around to talk to fans. My friends even got a picture with Orlando but I was too starstruck to say anything. Ah well, maybe next time.
