Welcome to Desertland

Coober Pedy welcomes you!

Coober Pedy, a sleepy little town in South Australia, is known for its below-ground homes and opals. I didn’t get a chance to go opal hunting but I’ve heard stories about some tourists who find opals and get a pretty little sum to supplement their travels. Of course, I have the worst luck so I doubt I would’ve found an opal but it would’ve been cool.
The underground homes were cool as well (pun intended) especially since it was ridiculously hot that day and I thought I was going to be fried to a crisp. Thankfully, we mostly stayed inside.
